Albert (Smokey) Rauch, 91, of Merrimack, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 2, 2017, at his home in Merrimack, NH. Albert was born on September 19, 1925, in Oakland, CA, the son of Mack and Lucy (Vanderloo) Rauch.
Albert worked as a surveyor for the state of California for the Bureau of Land Management. He married his wife Pearl on April 19, 1957. He enjoyed music, loved to dance, and played the harmonica with the Harmonicats in San Francisco on occasion. Albert grew up in California and had joined the US Army at the age of 19. He served stateside, then joined the Merchant Marines on a supply ship that serviced South America. Albert was known to be an outdoorsman. He loved to travel and had visited all of the continental United States with his wife in their RV. Albert was a huge 49ers football fan. He also worked at Shaws in Merrimack, NH for 20 years. Albert always stayed busy. His free time was spent doing leather work.
He is survived by his wife Pearl (Chittick) Rauch, of Merrimack, NH, and his daughter Cindy Knight and her husband, Kenneth, of Epping, NH.
