Obituary for George J. Melanson Sr.
George J. Melanson Sr., 68, of Swanzey, NH, passed away on July 13, 2020. He was born on September 13, 1951 in Keene, NH, the son of Lewis and Rita (Gagne) Smith. George loved life and lived to its fullest. He married the love of his life, Sheila (Black) Melanson and they raised a wonderful family together. George loved to fish; as soon as he heard about a new fishing spot, he would be there to try it out to see for himself. He was very handy and enjoyed working on his cars and was always ready for a fixer upper. He enjoyed making jewelry of all types, and even when his hands did not work as well as they used to, he could still be found crafting. He was known as a great person to talk to and could easily make friends with anyone. Family was most important to him. He enjoyed spending time with them having great BBQ’s and making fond memories. George is survived by his loving wife Sheila Melanson of Swanzey, NH; their five sons, Michael Melanson and his wife Christie of Winchester, NH, Mark Melanson of Swanzey, NH, George Melanson Jr. and his wife Katrina of Clearwater, FL, Craig Melanson and his wife Tiffany of Ashuelot, NH, and Joseph Melanson of Swanzey, NH; his brother Lewis Smith Jr. and his wife Linda of Keene, NH; his sister Judy Carey and her husband Richard of Westport, NH, and his sister Betty Maylin of Westmoreland, NH; his 15 grandchildren Logan, Alaina, Tessa, Briella (pre-deceased), Caleb of Keene, NH, Lorrie of Keene, NH, Tyler of Keene, NH, Torrance, Larissa, Anya, Emma of Clearwater, FL, Charlene Williams of Alstead, NH, Heather Davis of Claremont, NH, Rebecca Higgins of Claremont, NH, and R.J.
