Obituary for Irene D. Franks
Irene D. Franks, 94, of New Ipswich, NH, died, Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Pheasant Wood Center, in Peterborough, NH. Irene was born in New Ipswich, NH, March 28, 1922, the daughter of Eric and Lempi Mary (Fairfield) Kontio.

Irene graduated from Appleton Academy as the salutatorian in 1940. She married her husband, Joseph L. Franks in January, 1941.

Irene was a homemaker who loved her flower garden and was a wonderful cook. Irene loved animals, especially cats and dogs. She loved Country Western music. Irene loved to watch her boys play softball and baseball and was a member of the PTA. She loved antiquing. Family was important to Irene and holidays were a special time.

Irene is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia Caron and her husband, Richard, of Greenville, NH, and Larraine Spaulding and her husband William, of Campobello, SC; 3 sons, John Franks, of New Ipswich, NH, Richard Franks, of New Ipswich, NH, and Gary Franks and his wife, Heather, of Keene, NH; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Joseph L. Franks, in 1993.
