James A. Lajoie, 72, of Temple, NH, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH. James was born December 30, 1943, in Milford, MA, the son of Ovilla and Louis (Shattuck) Lajoie.
James served his country in the military as a member of the National Guard, serving stateside during the Vietnam War. He worked for Frost Farm Services as a mechanic.
James married Joan (Gregory) Lajoie in 1962.
James was an athlete, an artist, and loved all things motorized. He raced motorcycles, cars and hydroplane speedboats. He was a hang glider and downhill skier. He was the president of the Sky Riders Hang Gliding Club.
James was also an artist who loved painting cars and motorcycles. His mural paintings on motorcycles were featured in Harley Davidson Magazine.
James loved to go camping and spending time with his family. He enjoyed attending tractor shows with his friend, Stanley Young, as well as helping people to restore antique tractors.
James is survived by his wife, Joan (Gregory) Lajoie; 1 daughter, Lisa Labonte, and her husband Gerry, of Greenfield, NH; 2 sons, James Lajoie and his wife Joanna, of New Ipswich, NH, and Timothy Lajoie his wife Tina, of New Ipswich, NH; 1 brother, Oliver Lajoie, of Kent, Washington; 1 sister, Mary Ellen Kopsala, of Ashby, MA; 6 grandchildren, James T. Lajoie, of Greer, SC, Kayla Horton, of Greenfield, NH, Angela Horton, of Keene, NH, Megan Lajoie, Hannah Lajoie, and Noah Lajoie, all of New Ipswich, NH; 7 great-grandchildren, Sydona, Rayleigh, Ryker, Nataley, Rilynn, Cole, Theron, and 1 on the way. James was predeceased by his brother, John Lajoie.
