Obituary for Jean Edna Vincent
Jean Edna Vincent, 94, of Peterborough, NH, passed away at the Monadnock Community Hospital, in Peterborough, NH, on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. She was born on May 1, 1924, in Wilton, NH, the daughter of Vernon W. Greeley and Hattie (Fish) Greeley.
Jean was born on The Greeley Farm in West Wilton, NH, and attended the one-room school in Wilton Center. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1942, Salutatorian of her class, and then attended the Concord Business School. During WWII Jean worked for Whitney Furniture Company in Ashburnham, MA, before marrying her beloved husband, Gerard Vincent, on October 6, 1945. Jean later worked as a lunch lady at the Wilton Elementary School. She also spent time working for Abbott Machine Corp. and as a secretary for Vincent’s Garage. Jean enjoyed walking, gardening and bird watching. She loved to cook and make lots of treats for her grandchildren. Jean was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Wilton, NH, for many years, as well as a member of the Unitarian Church, serving on the Prudential Board for a number of years.
Jean is survived by her son, David Vincent, of Wilton, NH; her daughter, Shirley Curtis, and her husband Thomas, of Milford, NH; her sister, Joyce Fiske, of Wilton, NH; her grandchildren, Brent Curtis, of Milford, NH, Nathan Curtis, and his wife Lyndsay, of Milford, NH, Seth Curtis, and his wife Jennifer, of Milford, NH, and Annie Haines, and her husband Samuel, of Sandwich, MA; and her great-grandchildren, Charles Curtis, Adelia Curtis, Jack Haines, and Eliza Haines. She is predeceased by her husband, Gerard Vincent; her brothers, Robert Greeley and Richard Greeley: and her sister Ruth Adams, and sister in law Rosie Rousseau.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial donations to be made to the First Unitarian Congregational Society, 597 Isaac Frye Hwy, Wilton, NH.
Friends and family are warmly welcome to the services that will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11:00am at the First Unitarian Congregational Society, 597 Isaac Frye Hwy, Wilton, NH 03086, followed by a graveside service at the Vales End Cemetery, Sand Hill Rd, Wilton, NH.
