Obituary for Joan Elizabeth Hayes
Joan Elizabeth Hayes, 87, of Wilton, NH (Formerly of Somerville Ma) passed peacefully on Tuesday April 20, 2021. She was born December 12, 1933 in Somerville, MA to parents Alexander and Anne McCormick.
Joan married her late husband Lawrence Hayes on August 6th, 1955 and they went on to raise their family together. Family was very important to Joan as she always enjoyed the holidays and all family gatherings they had. Joan enjoyed going shopping, it was one of her favorite past times. She loved music and dancing and was always fun to be around. She spent a lot of time with her lifelong friends Barbara McKenna and John Palmer. She could often be found with John at Revere Beach going to get their hot dogs.
Joan is survived by her son James Hayes and his wife Brenda of Wilton, NH; her daughters Diane Cecere of Athol, MA and Nancy Charles and her husband David of Athol, MA; her brother Donald McCormick of Somerville, MA; her sister Marjorie Fraser of Springhill FL; her grandchildren Courtney Hayes, Korie Kilgore, Kristie Kilgore, Mark Kilgore, Scott Hayes, David Cecere, David Charles, Brian Charles, Shannon Morris and husband Keith; as well as several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joan is predeceased by her husband Lawrence Hayes, who passed June 26, 1998, her brother Charles McCormick, and her sisters Katherine Loder and Nancy McCormick.
Family and friends are warmly welcomed to attend calling hours at Michaud Funeral Home, 32 Maple Street in Wilton, NH, on Sunday, April 25, from 12pm-3pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street in Milford, NH on Monday, April 26 at 10am followed by a burial at Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Joan’s name.
