Obituary for John D. Glennon
John D. Glennon, 71 died in Manchester, New Hampshire on May 13, 2022. He will be remembered for his kindness, generous heart, sense of humor and his willingness to help others.

John was born in Boston, Massachusetts, August 14, 1950, and raised in Allston, Massachusetts. He attended St. Aidan’s Elementary School in Brookline, Massachusetts and graduated from Boston High School. He was an avid hockey player and enjoyed playing for his high school team. He was a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he majored in Marine and Electrical Engineering. He worked at nuclear power plants throughout his career.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael, and mother, Elizabeth, and his brother, Michael, brother-in-law, Don, and his wife, Melanie. He leaves behind his sisters, Maureen and Mary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John was a gifted storyteller. He was proud of his Irish ancestry and enjoyed listening to his grandfather tell stories of Ireland. He loved to listen to Irish music, and he could weave an entertaining story. He had an engaging sense of humor and often entertained his family with stories of his friends and adventures of his youth. He also enjoyed going to the gym, swimming, and ice skating.

John faced many difficult obstacles in his life, which he battled with courage, persistence, and a self-deprecating sense of humor.

His friends in the apartment complex where he lived remember him as a kind and generous person. They said he went out of his way to help anyone who asked. He was willing to drive people on errands and go with them to appointments. He even drove people to Boston for medical appointments at Massachusetts General. Friends gathered in his apartment for meals that John enjoyed cooking.

The family appreciates expressions of condolences from his close friends, Jeannette and Stephen and others who were friends with John.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michaud Funeral Home and Crematorium, Wilton, New Hampshire. Condolences, stories, and photos may be shared on their website.

An important part of John’s life was exercise. It became even more important after John was hit by a car and left for dead. Through physical therapy, lifting weights, swimming, and ice skating, John slowly and painfully recovered from the accident. The YMCA was an important part of his recovery. He would be pleased to know that in his memory other people’s physical and mental health were supported in his name.

or,

The American Cancer Society of New Hampshire

This was also an important organization to John. Several family members and friends have died from this horrible disease. John would appreciate money to support finding a cure.
