Obituary for Lillian D. Schlemmer
Lillian D. (Phillips) Schlemmer, 92, formerly of Mason, passed away after a brief illness, on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living in Dover, NH, where she had been a long-time resident. Lillian was born in 1924, in Weymouth, MA, the seventh child of the late John and Sophia Phillips. Lillian grew up in New Ipswich, NH, and graduated from Appleton Academy in 1943.
In 1950 Lillian married Albert Schlemmer of Ashby, MA, and together they operated Schlemmer Orchards in Mason into the 1980s. They remained residents of Mason until Albert’s death in 2009. Lillian was known for her passions of flower gardening and sewing.
Lillian is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and John Maynard of Stratham; her granddaughter Sarah Phillips Maynard; and her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Daniel and Rachel Maynard.
Lillian and Albert will be interred together in the spring at the New Ipswich Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the joint names of Lillian and Albert to the Monadnock Community Hospital, Philanthropy Dept., 452 Old Street Road, Peterborough, NH, 03458.
