Patricia D. Spooner-Burdick “Pat” passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2024, at her home in Jaffrey NH with family at her side. She was born in PA on July 13, 1946, the daughter of Fred C. King and Dorothy (Reith) King.
Pat graduated High School in Chelmsford MA, in 1964. In 1966 Patricia married Robert H. Spooner of Carlisle, MA, a widower with three young boys and soon the family added two more. While raising her family of five, Pat developed a love and a great aptitude for gourmet cooking and baking, which her growing family greatly enjoyed. Her hobbies included reading, listening to music, sewing and all needlecrafts. Pat was the co-owner, with her husband Robert of the Sutton General Store, Sutton Mills, NH in the early 80’s. Continuing with an entrepreneurial spirit they operated an executive sedan and van service “SpoonerS JitneY” until 2003. Pat also operated a successful upholstery business out of their North Sutton home.
After raising her family Pat pursued nursing and worked at the New Hampshire State Hospital as a licensed nurse’s aide. Robert predeceased Patricia in 2003. Pat re-married in May of 2010 to Lawrence S. Burdick of Keene NH. They enjoyed traveling a bit, their pets, dining out, but most of all they enjoyed watching their two families grow. Lawrence predeceased Pat in Dec. 2023.
Pat is preceded in death by both her parents and her older brother Michael King. She is survived by her sister Cynthia King Sigston and her husband Robert of Rindge NH, her niece Stacey King Chiment of Weed CA; her five children: Jeffrey B. Spooner and his partner Kelly of Winchendon MA, Scott R. Spooner and his wife Lisa of Rutland VT, Edward B. Spooner and his wife Tonni of Elliot ME, Karla E. Charles and her husband Brent of Jaffrey NH, Shawn P. Spooner, as well as her 10 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in Carlisle, MA at a later date, followed by a celebration of life in the Rindge NH area.
