Thomas Mooney, 90, of Milford, NH, died on May 31, 2018. The son of John Mooney and Lucille Chapman Mooney.
He graduated from CBA, Bonaventure University, received a Masters degree from SUNY and a Doctorate from Syracuse University. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier Tarawa. He received many awards as a writer and editor at Xerox Educational Publications and several of his textbooks were used by teachers throughout the country for use with children with special needs. He taught in the Albany, NY school system and the Guilderland, NY school system and was on the staff of the Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH. He lived together with his wife in Eastman NH for a time. They returned to Albany,NY where Tom was a Communicant at the Church of St. Catherine of Siena and was literary volunteer teaching reading.
Upon the death of his beloved wife of 49 years, Louise Wilson Mooney, in 2004, Tom moved to New Hampshire to be near his daughter and family. He was most recently a resident at Ledgewood Bay in Milford, NH.
He is survived by his children, Paul Mooney of Cornish, N.H., Bridget Mooney and her husband John Zavgren of Wilton, N.H., Stephen Mooney and his wife Maureen of West Newbury, MA. and Peter Mooney of Seattle, WA., his grandchildren, Caitlin and Joscelyn Mooney, Sadie Rose and Maggie Louisa Zavgren and Connor and Isabella Rose Mooney and his great-granddaughter Zoe Mooney as well as his brother John Mooney of Delmar NY. and many nieces and nephews.
